Comrades Forever

Comrades Forever

In his eyes I saw myself
Scared, nervous, and small
To him, I, a strange beast
Charging in from the wilds

Apprehension took control of us
Our wide eyes and rapid breath
My fears too big to hide away
His upon seeing a stranger

My nervous hand reaches forth
A sign of peace with open palm
Like fighters with eyes growing soft
One step closer to becoming friends

Trust was growing stronger between us
He was to be a docile servant
And I was to be his proud master
Together we will ride across the skies

He is a stallion too wild to be tamed
I am his friend, his trusted tamer
A special bond that remains a secret
A bond that keeps us together, comrades
Through thick and thin, in battle, and in peace
