The Availing
Words locked up in heavenly vaults,
released into the charitable skies,
blowing in the wind over land and sea,
availing themselves to those in need,
melted down to liquid that
falls like the rain from the skies and
seeps through the pores of the skin
and flows into the heart and mind.
As the crops need the rain,
the poet needs a compelling word
to usher the reader into the story
and keep his interest throughout;
words as hands that lead him to the next,
words as torches that show him the way,
words as descriptive as a photograph,
words that invoke his intellect,
words that bring him into the story,
words that touch his heart,
words that bring out his tears,
his sadness, joy, sentiment, passion,
that stimulate his imagination
leading him onto his own creation,
making him a poet, a devotee of your words
by planting a seed in the minds of everyone
from the words that you found falling as the rain.
