Corn Fields

The corn fields ready themselves  for August;
with a golden yellow maize and looking robust.
The summer’s air has come and settled in
in accord with the steadfast yearly discipline.

The time has come to go to the fields
and look to see what Mother Nature yields.
She has done her labor and now we do ours;
harvesting the crops until the evening hours.
She never fails, and for this we are grateful
when the work is done and our stomachs full.

I wrote this for the Belt and Beyond
