Amazing Thou So Art

Amazing thou so art with thy assuring grace,
thy words of mercy written upon your face,
thy enemy that I am surrenders to your look.
Your pentrating eyes captured me by thy crook.

My road ahead is paved with thy credent hand,
covering up my footprints I left in the sand.
My past was my prison that I chose it to be
until you came with thy grace and set me free.

’Tis I that was blinded by my lifeless life,
my unholy deeds and my everlasting strife.
My faithless journey was my only road ahead
until you rescued me from my life of dread.

Now I am free to praise and call your name,
broken away from my life of wretched shame.
You are my God and my faith to lead me on
in times of now and times beyond.

When you come to take me to your home,
I have no fear of being left alone,
for I’ll always have you as my confidant,
my God, my savior, ’tis all that I want.
From thy grace I need nothing else.
Amazing thou so art my God, my God.

I wrote this for my writer's club anthology book. It is called Righting a Wrong
