“Martinis are the only American invention as perfect as a sonnet.”

stirred sonnet
a perfect quatrain if there ever was
a stirred straight up martini perfect drink
rhymed in exquisite conical stemmed glass.
stilt leg to stand on like flamingo pink
three glasses sans olives clear foggy mind
half fourth glass a martini sonnet made
fourteen times you sipped send you to cloud nine
ready for a round of toasts serenade
minimalist nonetheless less is sure
a civilized bowl of bliss smooth sensual feel
a form follows function architecture
glass liquid facade sans baroque
leaf frill
plinth tall slick shaft cone capital cocktail
bowl of ambrosia and happy hour tale
