Juan Benito

By the Sea

Sitting and dreaming by the sea,
Little fiddler crabs and sea gulls staring at me,
Clouds scattered across the sky.
Fish in yonder bay somewhere lie,
Sea trout and Red fish are my delight.
All I need is to bait my hook right.
Should I use shrimp or mullet for my bait?
Perhaps squid, must decide before too late.
Then cast my line as far as I can,
For I need a fish for my frying pan.
I’ll hold my line waiting to feel…
A fish’s bite to tug and pull on my reel,
Then retrieve my line I surely will
For soon it will be,
Fish frying time for me,
Here I sit on a chair by the sea,
Just waiting for Mr. Fish to come by me
