Joseph Ambrosino

Hadrian Turned Pale

Looked in the mirror
And the stains shaped like me
Formed into something greater

Looked in the mirror
And what do I see
The golden boy
Staring back at me

The glistening and shimmer
The women and friends
All wrap the builder
Who always lends

what a man he is
But what serpents wrap
The curls that match Augustus
But tears from Hadrian

face pulled into pieces
the pieces turned blank
And what was golden
fell foolishly

riding the chariots
doing what the Romans did
Putting his murals everywhere
To save face the tragedy

all decorated with a mystery
amor et melle et felle est fecundissimus
