Jae Rychlewski

Perth city park

I look out over the expanse of the west,
the lights forever glisten,
gauging the distance between everyone,
in houses with cutlery now clinking,
7pm and maybe conversations.

Is it as brutal as it seems or is it the night and the sound of hoppers singing songs and the lullaby of the far off industry churning the ultimate
answer that is all that’s left to seek?

There’s green somewhere in the dark,
it will be green and vibrant and beautiful again in no less than the night lasts,
When the sun says hello and some things sleep and some things wake and it’s a messy vibration that keeps on, keeps on as it is and always is.

Tonight there’s words,
and the language is out there,
Beyond the horizon that drips into the sky as the night is now night,
as it all becomes one,
endless, maybe.
