**A Festering Wound**

A wound of yore, untimely sealed,
A scab that hides the pain unreeled.
With slightest touch, the crimson bleeds,
A poignant echo, a heart that pleads.

A gentle hand, a tireless guide,
Stitched and mended, but naught could hide.
Amidst the sutures, wounds grew deep,
A constant ache, a secret keep.

Tears that glimmer, a mournful sigh,
As memories of happiness die.
The wound remains, a gaping chasm wide,
A haunting ghost, a soul denied.

With trembling fingers, still I seek,
A touch to heal, a spirit meek.
But fate’s cruel hand, it twists and turns,
Leaving behind the pain that burns.
