Author’s Comments:
There are two indigenous and well-established Barbadian sayings that I grew up with, fully appreciate, attach significant importance to and from childhood, when I was first introduced to them, have consistently throughout my life incorporated both in my thinking, actions and every other viable aspect of my everyday life.
There are as follows: a) The more you watch the less you’ see; and b) The more that you greedily wish for the less you’ll invariably get.
In other words, concentrate less or not at all on your personal and selfish demands - narcissistically so or otherwise – and instead assiduously endeavour at all times to be a caring and commendable human being. And in the process of thinking less about yourself and more about others is a sure-fire way of reaping lasting rewards, of all kinds, that you previously never visualized would ever happen to you.
Quite clever us Bajans!
