When the doyennes of progressive antizionism insist that
“From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom,
human rights, and peaceful coexistence”,
Bernard-Henri Levy helpfully translates for the uninitiated:
“‘From the river to the sea’, which is to say, in good French,
‘Death to Jews’”
Translation in hand, the pathology currently engulfing
the progressive left is laid bare:
(Death to Jews) is an aspirational call for freedom,
human rights, and peaceful coexistence
Understand this foundational belief,
this litmus test for progressive belonging,
and the response to 10/7 and everything it forebodes
comes into focus:
Because only 1,200 of Israel’s 7 million Jews were slaughtered,
the pathological left considers the atrocities carried out by Hamas on 10/7
mostly peaceful
But should Hamas succeed in its mission of killing
another 6 or 7 million Jews,
only then will the gaze progressing leftward from the river to the sea
declare the situation in Israel
fully peaceful
