SPRING IS NEAR.

To the welcome approach of Spring....

SPRING IS NEAR.

The raw nip of winter still lingers in the air,
Yet the whisper of spring is quietly… right there.
As the early morning frost succumbs to a wakening sun,
Snow Drops remain bent in homage as one.
Then lifting skyward when warmed by natures profound,
They open up in evidence of their splendor and abound.

Heralding the early signs of the Season yet to come,
Giving hope for the passage of winters perpetual glum.
As I stare at the skeletal bare of the trees,
I notice a glimmer of life in the budding of leaves,
There is a feeling that there is an imminent change,
A respite, and I am thankful for the exchange.

For now the soft breeze still feels cool on my face,
But the suns warmth will soon be welcomed to replace.
The grey skies will give way to the splendor of blue,
But for now the daffodils still struggle to break through.
I know that spring is imminently upon us somehow,
And I give a sigh of relief then soften my brow.

Written in the early Spring of 2014...the coldest, snowiest, and most unrelenting winter I have seen since I moved to New Jersey over 20 years ago. This is hot off the press...and..I usually do not post until I have refined a new poem for several months..The exception begging to the timing...
