Forgiveness
Forgiveness is the hardest gift to give
Tears clouding our vision
Our sadness turning to madness
Hiding our hearts beneath
Thick layers of rust
As we try to come to terms
With the fact
That those we love can hurt us
Tearing our hearts to pieces
While our anger turns to bitterness
Painting our hearts black
As we struggle to escape the past
Trying to patch the holes that they left
So we can try to forget
And learn to forgive.

I've learned that the people we love the most are the ones that can destroy us if we are dense enough to let our bitterness blind us.
