The Red Horse

And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
Revelation 6:4 KJV

The rumors of war have now come to pass
In deserted streets; rubble, broken glass
And crimson blood spilled on snow covered grass
Yet no one can say what the reason was!

Sleek iron birds soar raining destruction;
While on rolling plains, tanks in position
Shelling the cities into submission
The hell with the wretched population

But in the end warmongers shall perish
Their spoils will vanish, they will be vanguish’d
Their victims, karma will end their anguish
These the fervent hopes, that we all cherish
That battle drums be silenced forever
And the Red Horse rider halts the slaughter

On February 24, 2022 - Russia's army crossed the Ukraine border to start what they called "special military operations". I wrote this poem the day after.
