The Lake

"The still waters of a lake reflect the beauty around it. When the mind is still, the beauty of the Self is seen reflected in it."
– B.K.S Iyengar

Upon the lake, still waters softly shine
The morning breaks with skies of deepest blue
Beneath the pines, the breeze is sweet and true
A peaceful air, where earth and sky align

The songbirds sing their melodies so bright
As mists arise and fade without a sound
The sun climbs higher, casting light around
While shadows dance beneath the trees in flight

The fisher waits, his line cast far and wide
The silent waves move gently to the shore
In nature’s quiet, there is nothing more
To chase, but time, as moments drift beside.

With every breath, the morning fills his soul
The ripples spread as winds begin to play
In soft embrace, the start of this new day
Brings peace, like waters calm and still, yet whole

The clouds drift slow, the sky expands above
The world awakes, alive in softest grace
In quiet joy, he takes his gentle place
Content to feel the lake’s enduring love

The fish swim near, though patience still remains
For time flows on beneath the golden light
Each breath he takes, a moment of delight
A tranquil pause where only peace sustains

And as he stands, the sun now climbing high
He bids farewell, the lake his quiet friend
With one last glance, his day begins to end
But in his heart, the morning will not die
