Sleep Deprived

It’s the witching hour
Yet my eyes still wide open
Not a wink since when
A dose of melatonin
Perhaps I should have taken

Sleep so elusive
Million things clutter my mind
Zzzzs nowhere to find
Tossing turning counting sheep
Should have spent the night asleep

A sliver of light
Appears through the window sill
Sunrise! what a thrill
The whole night I was awake
Nagging thoughts I couldn’t shake

I’m up! sleep deprived
Unprepared to greet the world
Tired and looking old
But this morning’s critical
I’m up for my physical

Now it’s out; the worry beads
That’s what kept me up all night
Not because I was on speed
Praying everything’s all right

Epilogue

But I aced my physical
See! I’m smiling ear to ear
My worries non-sensical
At the least, until next year!

Sorry you lost sleep but glad your physical turned out fine. We all worry at times and usually it's for nothing! Well written as usual Vic.

@Barb Clarke: Yes we do worry a lot. A little cough and we think the worst. 🤣😊 Thanks for liking.

Yes. I could totally relate. I had one too many of those sleepless night. Nicely done brod.

@Francisco Potato: Yes I had one recently when I was having this never-ending cough. I was so worried. 🤣 Thanks for liking Brod.

Once upon a time, we were warriors! now we are worriers! 😆😂😆

@Benjamin G. Sangalang: Yes indeed. Look what the years can do? 😀😀 Thank you Amigo.
