Sails of Valor

“Sometimes one has to know something many times over. Sometimes one forgets, and then remembers. And then forgets and then remembers. And then forgets again.”
Maggie Nelson, The Argonauts

Across the endless sea where dangers wait
Brave Jason stands with purpose in his eyes
The Argo cuts the waves in steady course
Through tempests fierce and trials yet unknown

The Golden Fleece, their long and noble quest
A sacred prize, a symbol of their might
No rest is found while honor calls them forth
Each hand and heart united in the fight

Through distant lands and shores of dread they go
Where trials rise like shadows in the night
The clashing rocks would bar their path with force
Yet through the storm, they push and forge ahead

With whispered spells, Medea bends the fates
Her magic laced with passion and with pain
She guides their course through peril’s waiting jaws
Her hand entwined with Jason’s in the dark

The Hydra’s fangs, the sirens’ luring cries
No force can break the will that drives them on
For every hero, bound by oath and steel
Would fight with heart for glory and for home

Great Heracles with strength beyond the rest
And Castor, Pollux, brothers fierce in war
Each oar they pull, each sword they lift with might
Together bound in legend’s endless song

They bring the prize to Greece, their journey done
Yet time itself will bow before their names
The Argonauts, through ages, shine as stars
Their deeds endure beyond the hands of fate

So lift the sails and set your course to sea
Like Jason, bold, unyielding in the storm
Through pain and loss, through battle’s bitter cries
Let courage stand, unshaken to the end!
