Over the fence, the morning sun peeks out
Shadows, light and dark shades, in the backyard
An early squirrel is up and about
The sky’s grayish, almost blue, pure asgard
Though starlight dimmed by the bright rising sun
The sweet nascent morning so far unmarred
Marvelous sounds of nature have begun
Songbirds, melodious symphonies they play
Crickets and cicadas have joined the fun
Cardinals in the bird bath slosh their way
Robins and blue jays awaiting their turn
Monarch butterflies fluttering away
The breeze blows, then wind chimes begin to churn
While in feeders hummingbirds suck nectar
From the kitchen the strings of a nocturne
But peace soon disturbed; sirens from afar
Revving cars cruising in the expressway
Mowers weedwhackers, the din so bizarre
The morning calm now gone, to our dismay
Today’s serious business soon in progress
The sound and fury of every week day
But worry not; the day will evanesce
Stunning sunset will soon be on display
Though we’re unworthy, it’s nature’s largesse
Yes, euphonic nature tunes gone away
Hope tomorrow, a mirror of today
