Anchor

“Hope is the anchor of our souls. I know of no one who is not in need of hope – young or old, strong or weak, rich or poor.” James E. Faust

When stars hide, the night’s all black
But with eyes closed, we can dream
Perchance slay creatures of the dark
Thence await the morning sunbeam!

When our world is seemingly cruel
And we feel deserted and hopeless
A Comforter comes, dares us to refuel
Rescuing us from anguish and sadness!

When torrential rain falls from the sky
And flood waters rise up dangerously
Our lives imperiled, lest we go high
Or swept away by the current swiftly

But we got an Anchor, we can depend on
To steady our ship in times of troubles
An anchor to keep us secure, dusk to dawn
Ensure we’re triumphant in our struggles!

You see, even in the worst of days
There are possibilities for joy
And though in pain, we can smile away
All signs of grief, we can destroy!

We’re built strong and resilient
To withstand trial and tribulation
And if to Divine will, we’re obedient
We’ll be kept safe in every situation!

Surely, snags and mishaps make our days
But there’s joy and fulfillment as well
Give our Anchor and Comforter high praise
Then life would be a joy ride in a carousel!

I wrote this poem seven years ago. It's as relevant to me today as it was then.
