Icarus

Divided World

World Divided
I sit here alone
waiting on the edge
harsh reality
The door opens, the bell rings
a stiff breeze slaps me in the face
reminding me the yours won’t be wearing a smile

what truth are you hiding behind
those cold green eyes
miles away
our worlds divided
by silence
know longer knowing
one another
now less than strangers. (Remember how that was my greatest fear?)
Hopin for the best
but paralyzed by fear
That the best I could do
will only make things worse.

Here we are
Momentarily
Sharing an orbit
Just within reach
but miles beyond
my grasp.
