I am enigmatic

Perplexing in my concealed self

i am an ocean
swim deep in my seas
that is the only way that you will see this inner being
the one i feed so many things
each day by day fascinating me
 
read me in the shadows of your footsteps
those ones that you often fetch
those ones that you cannot grab
the ones i hide beneath my eyes
the ones i wear in disguise
 
you see me maybe
maybe you don’t
you cannot figure
you cannot quote
i am so silent yet i am no ghost
 
i am that secret my soul shall forever hold
i am beneath those eyelids you look into
i am inside that mouth which kisses you
i long to show you when i touch and feel you
i am so cold beneath this tissue
yet all i hold is anything good
 
cryptic
curious
inexplicable
mystifying
magical
unknown
weird
strange
baffling
obscure
perplexing
 
name me what you must
 
but
 
stop trying you will never see who
