GRANDMA’S SHAWL

Grandma’s shawl was woolen knit
And lay warm upon her shoulders

It shook when grandma laughed
Rose and fell when she would
Breathe

And her hand would gently hold it
When the tears would overflow

And
It was that hand that held her
Rosary as each bead slipped
Through her
Fingers

When she closed her eyes and
Fell asleep in the favorite
Rocking chair

Her rosary would lie upon
Her woolen shawl
That lay
Soft upon
Her shoulders
