The Other Night

Ignoring riptide warnings, acting foolishly brave.

Swept away by the current and pounded by the waves.

The stakes are high; a matter of life or death.

Doing battle with Poseidon, gasping for breath.

Finally surrendering to fate, I submit to the the tide.

Giant swells lift me up and down like a roller coaster ride.

Treading water out at sea, hoping rescue will arrive.

Growing tired from the effort, not sure I will survive.

This is what it feels like when I become crippled with fear.

Asking for reassurance, I guess I’m just “too insecure”.
