(2013)
This was a haiku I wrote near the beginning of Fall on a day I was feeling a bit under the weather.
Busy decisions Like an endless moon cycle Such a waxing life
A blank white tablet Fuzzy buzzing silences Click, click, click, and yet That single black divider keeps Blinking an endless cycle
Red and orange glitter Dancing delicately high Above winding paths Falling to the great grey streams Falling for grace, or duty?
Sweet little black box From metalic elogy Sleep now, sing no more
A sudden rain flux A faintly calling whisper To turn off eyelids Yet I cannot shake my dream For just another hour
Perplexity breathes Into the hearts of all men In heart beat matters We shy our true intent like An elephant in the vent
The spotlight glares down Bright, bright, sight, sight My cloak swiftly surrounds White, White, Swish, Swish, The fabric shell billows but stays
I guess it’s about that time again time for another pointless relapse Time, like a dusty album record Spinning, around and around on end I want the needle to break or veer…
A soft fluttering A pulse that pushes beyond Beating of the heart Oh to express the joys of, A soap opera here and there
Life’s obligations A daunting sea of turmoil With crest after crest I’ll hide in this briny shell Till the tide forgets my name
To etch a love song No earthy ink can suffice Only color drawn From such a naive heart-well Could paint even an inkling
The end of the road A distance we all travel Darkness as moonlight Spreads over stone and flowers That litter our path ahead
Flickering between The realms of light and shadow Why not close the shades? Sleep’s alluring charm welcomes Despite such early hours!
Once my beating heart Matched steel drum lines to-to-toe Teaching metronomes But now my beat has fallen Into syncopated depths
My Grandfather’s last dream In a deep sea of white, heavy thun… Until a peaceful respite blinks What will it bring? Will the rain… With their piercing showers, will…
