My white cloak (Version 2)
The spotlight glares down
Bright, bright, sight, sight
My cloak swiftly surrounds
White, White, Swish, Swish,
The fabric shell billows but stays
Hush, hush, blush, blush
The light bends, and sways,
Blink, blink, sink, sink
As my cloak still protects,
Sigh, sigh, shy, shy
The spotlight redirects
Bright, bright, sight, sight
Darting, flirting, senselessly until
Bright, bright, fright, fright
It moves in for the kill
White, white, sight, sight
Someone is found
White, white, fight, fight
And without sound
The essence resists,
But is lost in the fists
Cling, cling, sing, sing

This poem was written about my elementary school experience. This poem is meant to convey how people often have to put on a face or act a certain way to fit in or else become an outcast. My white cloak not only represents my choosing to hide myself from attention by acting like everyone else, but also the fact that this action was relatively simple being that I have white skin in a culture that generally tends to be led by white norms. This poem however is an alternative draft to another poem I wrote called my white cloak. This poem follows a different repetitive form and isn't as long as the other but I still wanted to post both versions. It also follows exclusively with my elementary experience whereas my white cloak (original) goes beyond this scope.
