Snooze
Dedicated to Munson
I love the way he sleeps,
my little puppy dog.
He stretches out his feet,
and makes himself so long.
His nose tucked in his paws,
a pair of praying hands,
eyes closed sawing logs
a snoring little man.
Hind legs stretching back,
paws facing bottoms up,
his toes like little jelly beans,
soft and squishy to the touch.
His feet are extra hairy,
like he’s wearing wooly socks.
He barely has a derriere,
long legs skinny like a frog.
Occasionally, every now and then,
his tongue will pop right out.
It just might be my favorite thing,
of this I have no doubt.
He prefers to snooze right next to me,
he knows how much he’s loved.
He will bare his soul to me
I’ll give his belly a little rub.
He’s the goodest boy.
