“This is Doctor Schmidt calling to find out how you are feeling after your operation two weeks ago. I’m concerned about the healing process. I hope you are still not feeling too much pain from the operation.”
“What, what, what?” replied the perplexed patient, Mr. Brown. “What number do I press on the phone to speak to the doctor? Please speak clearly so I won’t get confused.” “I am the doctor,” he replied. “Do I press the button to make an appointment or the button to reach the accounting department?” replied Mr. Brown. “This is Doctor Schmidt calling you.” “Please don’t put me on hold for an hour, because I don’t want to run out of minutes on my cell phone,” replied the confused Mr. Brown. “This is Doctor Schmidt speaking to you, Doctor Schmidt in person.” “Doctors don’t speak to patients anymore these days. These damn cell phones are too confusing to me. I don’t know what button to push to get a hold of the doctor. I guess I’ll just hang up and try to reach him tomorrow.”
“There’s a strange phenomenon
On the telephone?
There’s a doctor speaking to someone?
An actual doctor that talks and breathes?
A human that responds to voices?
That answers questions?
Unbelievable!!!
The Universe must be off tilt.
Maybe it’s the end of the world.
Maybe I’m going nuts.
Think I’ll take my pants off
And run through the streets.
Ya-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a”
