The Competition

Mother Nature, in artistry such as she,
Led by the sun and its daily rendezvous,
Moving, drifting, flaunting, dancing,
And putting twilights on display,
Hiding behind the clouds until the morn’,
‘Til a new day
With her work to be done,
Casting shadows in the mountains,
Moving them with her dancing in the sky,
Flaunting her beauty in view
Of enchanted eyes of the beholder,
Crawling into their hearts and
Taking over their emotions.
An ode to an artist such as she.

Michelangelo, in artistry such as he,
Led by the spirit that runs through him,
Painting God that he saw in his heart,
Who posed for him in his mind,
Who materialized for him only,
Who powered his arms and fingers,
Who guided his strokes on the ceiling,
That beautiful Sistine Chapel,
Who oversaw his work and
Stayed with him
Until his work was done.
Then kept living in his heart
As a spirit only.
An ode to an artist such as he.

One artist as a human being,
Led by the spirit embodied,
And one artist as a spiritual creation,
Led by natural causes.

Both are winners.
Both were created by the spirit
And moved by the spirit.
