The Blinding

The Blinding

Beauty with all your blinding lights
Your shore-less seas, your forgotten sights
Your fruited fields, your soul unheeded
Your serious intent, your pleas un-needed

Forever a fool with my swooning in charge
A little boy lost with his discretion at large
Beauty stretches beyond all reasoning
A stew gone bad with too much seasoning

I let beauty overshadow its own worth
She took me in with her pleasure and mirth
But am I the only one she can deceive?
For she is the blinding light of the naïve
And I am one of those who are blinded
