The Musicians, by Caravaggio
Robert L. Martin

Tears at the Funeral

Tears at the Funeral

We weep for our loved ones
Gone from us forever
Torn away by life
That draws us together
Then tears us apart

Their maiden voyage embarks
Out to the sea of infinity
Without a compass to guide
But sailing by the tears of God

Life after death, it waits for us
Waiting to reveal its silence
We tremble through our doubtful years
Then find the breath of Heaven
As it breathes us into space beyond
Tears of freedom from restless tides
Oh, sweet Heaven, I die for thee.
