The Torment of Saint Anthony, by Michelangelo
Robert L. Martin

Sky-bound Demon

Rising from the deep-sea furnaces of Sheol,
she swims to the top with the seeweed
dangling from her horns to survey the surface
as it sways to the rhythm of the tranquil seas,
looking at the azure skies and absent clouds,
the sunny skies not yet tainted by her wrath,
she prepares herself for her hell-fire demolition,

her evil eyes fixed on the
innocuous clouds up high,
her fins thrashing about the riled up waters,
her nostrils shooting out infernal fires,
her readied ears listening to every word
of the Devil’s command,
her wings affixed upon her slimy body,
ready to lift her skyward to the clouds,
to rile them up and build a hurricane
more ferocious than the ones before her.

She ascends with her battle axes and spears,
her paddles in hand to stir up the winds,
her mind bent on death and destruction,
bringing hell upon the Hallowed Earth
in response to the Devil’s command
while preparing the way for her
sons and daughters to follow.

I can't help but think about the horrendous hurricanes that are invading us.
