Blue ocean waves
Robert L. Martin

Outer World Under

Secrets in the deep-sea world under
the wind-blown waves,
many fathoms under the reach of the fishermen,
further down under
the tall, waterlogged swaying ocean gardens,
in a land of the aquatic creatures with
crusted eyes and stony gills slithering
through broken ships, house of the macabre,
covered in foul hoary green barnacles,
then so maybe further down near the abyss
where aquatic beasts rule the sea world
with no eyes nor gills nor breath,

where life is still a life but an outer world one,
a new life taken over and materialized,
capable of withstanding the water pressure,
an aquatic beast encased in titanium skin
with outer world motors inside
propelling it or him ahead,
swimming through the maze,
an intelligence unexplored,
the life of the lifeless,
a playground of the spectral spirits,
a natural acclimation, or nothing at all,

down and down too deep to witness,
forever a deep-sea mystery,
a quixotic poem or a horror story,
a hell or an enigmatic heaven,
another world or a nothing,

forever a story to be written,
to be scrutinized or forgotten,
or a poem to be embellished upon,
but forever a secret and a mystery.
