My Spirit So Young
I vow not to give up on life. Through the years, my body will tire; but my spirit will be like a seeded field in midwinter that dreams of running brooks and flowering valleys. I will stand and accept the winters of my grief through the wonderment of the seasons passing by. I vow that I won’t let sorrow determine my state of health and lead me to hide from the dread of death; but instead, I shall stand by my knowledge of Heaven’s open doors. When my limbs no longer move, my spirit will sing with all its might. I vow to keep the youth in me that frolics with the breeze and writes poems to his beloved.
