Melodic Travels

Melody with torches blazing,
scarlet flames in the wake,
feathery wheels rolling,
aerial tires circling the air,
supple engines grinding,
melodious mufflers singing,
aromatic air in the trailing,
lithesome wings grazing the clouds,
flapping to the rhythm of the wind,
nomadic wanderings about the skies,
traveling with the speed of the sun,
the daughters of the tired nights,
matriarchs of the tribunal gatherings,
mapping out the path of the melody,
to reach the end but not the end,
to brush against it with feathered kisses
and wander again with a heartfelt zeal,
a second melody flavored from the first,
a new composition with
the old still flowing through its veins,
combining the sweet with the familiar,
a new spark and a new flame,
a new life set in motion by the old,
a hunger sought and hunger garnered,
an oasis in search of another,
another place to embellish the sound,
to color it with pastel air brushes
and star dust of the Music Gods,
to see it slipping through the fissures,
through the ears of the heart,
to see it settling in the soul,
stirring up memories of the past,
commanding the mind to wander,
to leave behind this place on earth,
to dream, to poetize, to love, to fly,
never to look down to where I’ve been.

Oh sweet melody; with thee
I sing and wander.
