Leprechaunian Truths

Upon catching a leprechaun, beware, beware.
His pot of gold could be hidden anywhere.
If he truthfully says it’s at the rainbow’s end,
maybe it is there or maybe around the bend.

Maybe he wants to send you on a wild goose chase
and laugh while you look in the very wrong place.
For he’s known for making up his own truths,
and Leprechauns are the best of liars on the loose.
His smile is a smirk and his smirk is a big, big fib.

I wrote this for the Belt and Beyond (St Patrick's Day issue)
