Kaleidoscope

Shifting, drifting, colors and shapes
my truths, my prose, my charming scapes

my run-a-way shadows on solid ground
rising and drifting as to heavenly bound

dressed in rainbow colors and harlequin suits
playing on a lazy cloud on dreamy flutes

rising with the upper air and falling with the rain
suspended above all and to where cherubims lain

drinking in the helium and the heavy waters
dancing with the truth and deceptive daughters

calling aeroplanes in the name of iron birds
throwing the real away with abstract words

finding new homes for the firmly entrenched
tightening them up with a quixotic wrench

shifting colors in the maze of the kaleidoscope
my life of ups and downs and persistent hope

of the abstract staying within its rigid confines
and my telling of a story as my spirit shines
