Heyday of the Saga

A lucky star shined down on Jake today.
It broke through the perforated clouds
that hovered over the Bering Sea
and found him in deep thought.
It entered into his eyes and
filtered down to his apprehensive heart.
It gave him the courage to move ahead.
It stayed with him as he took over
the captain’s cabin of the Saga.
It smoothed over the Bering Sea for him.
It illuminated the waters deep within.
It pointed out where the schools were and
told the Cod Fish to assemble for him.
It told him to trust in its findings
and to be obedient to its credibility.
It told him when to lower the pods
and gathered up the fish for him.
It put a gladness in the hearts
of the fishermen as they hoisted up
the pods full of fish, one after another.

As the numbers surmounted,
so did the money.
That special day was
a heyday for Jake along with
the rest of the days
and the crew leading up to
a prosperous season.
Thanks be to that lucky star.

I watched "The Deadliest Catch" TV show last night and shared the joy of the crew of the Saga fishing boat as the men pulled in huge numbers of Cod Fish.
