Harmonic Transmission
Harmony sweet harmony, transmitter of many moods,
travels through rivers until the flowing concludes.
Born from the mouth of a chordal proggression,
it penetrates the heart and soul with its aggression.
It is the builder of stories that bring out the tears
with a consoling shield that covers up all the fears.
With its muscles flexed, it moves into the heart
and travels to the mind from the very start.
It builds stories in most but not in all.
Some are empty and some are enthralled.
Some are affected by the harmony they hear
and some only affected by the lyrics so clear.
I of delicate musical preference and taste,
search for harmonic progressions with such haste
and wonder why others don’t hear like me,
the frustrated one, the one in the minority.
So popularity became the dominating sound
with no emphasis on the harmony all around.
I'm looking forward to when popular music emphasizes the harmony and melody again and not just the beat and lyrics.
