Frosty Nights

We brace ourselves for October’s dew
When warm nights dwindle down to a few.
Frosty nights will be here again
‘Cause winter is coming around the bend.
The dews of autumn no longer as of liquid
As they turn to ice on a grassy lid.

The song of the crickets is growing faint
As their autumn nocturne nears its fate.
A dirge to summer is the brand new song
As the music fades and autumn comes along.

This was written for the "Belt and Beyond" also. I always send the editor two so she can choose which one she likes the best.
