Fast and Faster

Full speed ahead, feeling the adrenalin
surging through the veins,
bulldozing its way to the heart,
bringing sweet smelling roses
and barrels of caffeine and spices
to galvanize the spirit,

sending the blood to flood the chambers,
sending it over the highest cliffs,
massaging the spine with iron feathers,
riding on crazed gazelles
faster than the lightning hits the ground,
feeling their hooves kicking the skin,

flying with the birds and Pegasi
into the wilds and back out again
into the heart of the insane,
feeling the glory of life and its derangement,
how it invades the order of reason,
the rules of life in disarray;
not with the prevention of death in mind,
but death and its glorious welcoming
through its open gates,
paralyzing the mind from the consequences,

fast and faster, full speed ahead
with the adrenalin pumping into the spirit
with life and death at the controls
and the sweet feeling of its surge
fueling the heart with more power
and numbing the mind to reason
as the ability to stop becomes less and lesser
until the adrenalin carries you
all the way into the Valley of Death.
