Dollar in the Wilds

A dollar out in the wilds
of many rivers
emptying into cryptic waters with
shifting manifests, ports unknown,
away from stone houses,
vaulted rooms, sure hands,
steady legs, frugal minds,

blown by the stony wind
from hand to hand, lust to lust,
scheme to scheme,
no rudder to steer the ship,
floating with the wayward winds,

a dollar adrift in the midnight sea
with the threats of
the tempest in heart,
the dollar with no eyes,
no legs, no arms,
no feet, no mind, no wings,
unleashed from sure hands
to nervous hands,
from charitable minds
through scheming channels,

from a sea of tears
into the wilds with no direction
at the mercy of the driven winds
like a rag doll with paper wings
blinded by the eyes of the sun,
probing its way along
as the darkness descends,
a dollar out into the wilds,
a journey of hope
and good fortune
for the arrival
to its destination.

As the dollar leaves your pocket, the hope of its destination reached.
