Caricamento in corso...
Cleopatra testing poisons on death row inmates, by Alexandre Cabanel

Death Came Alive

Death Came Alive

I awoke in a musty tomb
With the smell of dead roses
Trampled from the Devil’s feet
Oh life, what are you now?

My pulse abandoned me like
A river that ran out of itself
My strange skin felt like soft stones
Like someone else’s armour

I threw open the heavy casket lid
As if it were the rising wind
My strength was like a tidal wave
With its acts of merciless demolition

My winding eyes could see the
Circular holes imprinted upon my neck
My beautiful Lady in Red with
Her strange but compelling eyes
Led me to her dark cave
Oh her white silky thighs
And surrounding valleys
Oh her soft lips but razor teeth

With my lonely sorrow
And quickened pulse
I surrendered to
Her deadly charm
