A Sacrificial Deed

A sacrificial deed was the duty for this man
who layeth here buried beneath the sand,
by standing up to honor the rule of grace
as he ascended to heaven and claimed his place.

He sat at the table with his fallen mates
and learned about all their obligatory fates.
Some were scared but all were brave
as they fought for our beloved country to save.

They died an honorable death as they went down,
complying to the highest rule of grace so bound.
They fought like hell until they could no more,
sacrificing themselves by going to war.

You and I are free to live as we see fit;
free to choose our leaders and free to worship.
And now it is our duty to honor our soldiers
in thanks for them who preserved our borders.
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again.

This is my speech I wrote for the Memorial Day Service at the cemetery.
