scraping as i try

This morning is a water well I’m at the bottom of
My finger nails are scraping and breaking as I try to climb
These tubular walls a prison, a numb hut
From where rays won’t sift or sit

Cold and ambiguous, the strength I need to be free eludes me
Do I sit, knees to my chest at the floor of this dungeon
Or do I fly to the suns warmth
My spirit indomitable, pettiness dispersed

This water well I’m at the bottom of
Is a place behind my tired eyes
The misery induced is a curse placed on self
Which I’m proficient and read
