pain and scars

can you forget when used to laugh
at all the pain and the scars,
if you walk a fine line or a knife edge
inevitably you’re going to fall,

can you forget when we drove your car
in a strange orbit-less path,
the price of the cotton in which you lay
its ice cold reality of stupidity’s call,

in the breeze of an upturned car
a blind cross road too far,
a gentle fire starts a gloom
to explode with its angry boom,

a sentry stood as he heard
stolen, broken and burnt,
his apple fell too far right
but two fell to the floor that night,

a career gone in a flash
an unwanted model hides behind a mask,
her laugh, her smile she can’t get back
and constant reminders that smack,

you, well you walked away unperturbed
left behind a haze of the disturbed,
flourished your misery another fiery curse
your shadowed heart couldn’t wonder whats worse,
