Rain in Lincoln Square

Moonlight in Vermont

A guitar strums a string
Gelato rainbows glistening
Rain in Lincoln square
Pigeons on the wing
Passerby’s are listening
Rain in Lincoln square

The keepers, makers and sellers of wares
Stop with their hands outstretched
To catch the jewels falling from the air,
The robins and finches sing gaily along,
While below faces etched
With peace and joy, mouths join their song

To the patter on the street
The gray clouds pass over the park
Rain in Lincoln square
Homeward tiny feet
Traffic blazes in the dark
Rain in Lincoln square
