Lighthouse

For the lost

O steadfast golden pinpoints of fire,
O isolated tower looming high above the mists,
Your stalwart efforts never falter or tire,
Nor do you show bias for those ensnared in your midst.
Thankless you spin, unaware of your toil,
Offering unfaltering refuge for those most in need,
Uncaring yet diligent, without worry or roil,
You cannot deceive, and so can offer no misdeed.
I have stood on the shoreline and looked out at the foam
And seen the solitary guardian, the loneliness of the sea,
And I look inside myself and draw parallels of home:
Of what the lighthouse represents, and what that means to me.
