Blindness

Look what we've done to ourselves.

It takes a certain kind of person
To wake up one day and look around at a peaceful, empty room,
And make themselves believe that their bedroom is full of ghosts.
It’s another type of person
That wakes up to a room full of ghosts,
And refuses to believe that they exist.
But perhaps the kind of person that is most pitiable,
Are the poor souls who wake up in whole worlds filled with other people,
And refuse to see them for what they truly are, or are maybe unable to do so.
They are able to identify empty rooms or haunted houses,
But their refusal or inability to confront reality
Turns those spirits into something different than what they are,
Or turns that emptiness into something else.
