Levi Carter

A Wish

I want to wake up with her by my side.
With her smile and eyes open up wide.
Keep her warm she is prone to the cold.
But not if I am there so I’ve been told.
I wish I were able to help when she sleeps.
For this is where she silently weeps.
To be able to make the bad thoughts go away.
To tell her I love her every single day.
We are climbing but she says she is not ready.
We will keep climbing slowly and steady.
She is fragile in the heart and I understand.
But until she’s ready I am here to lend a helping hand.
