Just Look Under The Rope
High school isn’t for lovers. To the few who wanted it badly enough and made it through, then congratulations. But nine times out of ten you’re going to get hurt. Your heart morphs into a punching bag as fragile as a glass vase. As soon as you ask, “Will you be my girlfriend?”, your walking on a rope. Some people lose their balance quickly. Some people can hold on and make it to the other side. But if you look down, about the middle of the rope, when you think everything is perfect, that’s where all the broken hearts are. Broken hearts of the kids who couldn’t make it. Broken hearts who wanted love more than anything, but did not receive. Those same kids gave everything they had to put a smile on someone’s face in hopes that they’ll hold on with them, for just a little bit longer. For the kids who are excited to go to high school, you should be. It’s great. Just don’t fall in love. If you ever need a reason, just look under the rope.
